Young Lady and her Cat, mixed media, 14 1/2 x 11 in (35.6 x 26.4 cm), signed in ink lower left L. Foujita, 1953 , Paris. ART NOTATION: Artwork was viewed out of the frame and glass . It appears to be an original work comprised of ink, light ink wash, pastel and perhaps some pencil and watercolor. The very light wash was used as a modeling guide and then worked over with the pastel. The paper size is 14 1/2 x 11 in definitely has age to it, no watermark. One can easily see the wash when looking at the back of the paper and holding it up to a light. There are 2 gallery labels affixed verso: Harbor Gallery, Norfolk, VA and M & M Fine Art and Antiques.

Affixed to the top middle of the frame is a Springfield Museum Of Art, Springfield MA exhibition label with title and showing ownership of the painting as the Corcoran Gallery of Art , Washington DC. The title is given as "Portrait Of A Woman" There is an additional label affixed to the middle of the panel written in fountain pen which has become somewhat obscured over time , however there are certain words that are intelligible such as " sketch ", there appears to be the name of the sitter, the date as 1906 , Paris and the word " sketch"

Clermont State Historic Site was the Hudson River seat of New York's politically and socially prominent Livingston Family. Seven successive generations of the family left their mark on the town. Robert R. Livingston, Jr. was Clermont's most notable resident.
